13 SEER Transition

January 23, 2006 marks the date when the EPA will no longer allow any manufacturing or importing of residential air-conditioning below 13 SEER.

Ruud has in place a schedule for phasing out the lower SEER equipment as well as introducing new model equipment, including condensing units, package units, air handlers, and coils. The selection represents an increase in higher SEER ratings and increase in R-410a selection. The chart below shows the new equipment that will be available before years' end.

It has been and always will be Meier Supply’s commitment to strive to have what you the dealer needs in stock at all times. The product selection for the upcoming cooling season is a critical one and brings about some very important questions:

  • What will your company be marketing next year?

  • Does your company have a strategy in place for the 13 SEER transition?

  • Will you continue to sell 10 SEER until it's unavailable or transition to 13 SEER immediately?

  • Will you be promoting R-22 or R-410a?

  • Are you currently promoting and selling variable speed products?

  • And the most important question - What would you like to see available from our inventory?

You the dealer drives the success of our company. The upcoming year is going to see many changes in the HVAC industry. Above are some of questions we need answered to assure we have the product you need in stock so that we may support your strategy for the upcoming year. Please send any feedback to my attention at  DNorton@MeierSupply.com or contact me directly at (607) 797-7700.

Degree Days

Be sure to check the degree day data listed at the bottom of the page. It seems mother nature is the best salesperson we got!

What are Degree Days? - Degree Days are a sum of how far the average daily temperature deviates from 65'F.

Utility companies use these numbers to estimate energy usage - It works well with air-conditioning sales as well!
